Shades of Gray

Hi everyone!

One of my fail-safe colors for work clothes is gray.  I love the classiness of gray and feel like it’s not quite as formal as black.  It was also a bit overcast today, so the color fit the weather exactly.  Here was my outfit for today:

Banana Republic Modern Scoopneck Tee in XS (similar here)
Forever 21 Knit Wrap Skirt in XS (similar here)
Forever 21 Braided Grey Pumps in size 6
Forever 21 Rustic Bedazzled Owl Necklace

Top: I really like the simplicity of this BR top.  It’s a little sheer, but the when paired with a nude-colored bra, you don’t notice a thing.  It’s nice and sleek and pairs nicely with a skirt or dressed down with a pair of jeans.

Skirt: I’ve actually been looking for a flattering tulip skirt for awhile now.  I’ve tried on several from Bebe but they were all super tight on me and showed off way too much leg whenever I sat down.  Definitely not work appropriate!  This skirt from Forever 21 is actually perfect.  It’s just loose enough so I don’t feel like a wrapped up sausage and I can go about my day not having to adjust my clothes and look uncomfortable.

Shoes: I found these shoes at Forever 21 maybe 6 months ago and really love them.  Since I wear grey a lot, these shoes were just what I was looking for.  Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to find a shoe by Forever 21 smaller than a size 6, so these shoes are a bit big on me (I’m a size 5 – 5.5).  I’ve added heel inserts and a forefoot insole so make it a bit better.  It’s wearable if I’m just going to be in the office where I sit for most of the day — the only walking I really do is to the cafeteria and the bathrooms.   ^_^

Necklace: I’ve noticed that I’ve been wearing lots of animal necklaces lately!  I don’t know if it’s coincidence or if it’s actually a trend!  I do know that I have seen several animal necklaces at Forever 21 lately – fish, bunny, butterfly, zebra, and even panda!!

Stay cute everyone!

Naked Neutrals

I decided to give my Urban Decay Naked palette some love today.  Here’s what I came up with:

And just cause this picture showed the colors best…

Breakdown:

Eyes:

  • MAC Painterly Paintpot
  • MAC Cement Shadestick

Urban Decay Naked Palette (sold out!)

  • Lid: Toasted
  • Outer V: Naked
  • Crease: Darkhorse
  • Highlight: Virgin

Face:

Lips:

  • MAC Myself Lipstick
  • Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss in Bonbon

On a side note, I think my L’Oreal Lash Boosting serum is actually working.  Check out my lashes below!  No falsies!!  It’s not half bad for an Asian with typical stick-straight stumpy lashes!

Feeling Chirpy!

I woke up full of energy today and decided to wear a bright blue dress to complement my mood.

Lark and Wolff dress by Urban Outfitters (size 0)
Withey Peep-Toe Pumps by Aldo (size 35)
Bird necklace from Etsy (don’t remember seller…)

closeup of the necklace

Dress: I absolutely love this dress! It’s super comfortable and is the perfect degree of dressiness for my workplace (Dallas hedge fund). I bought it a couple weeks ago from the sale rack of Urban Outfitters for only $29.99! This was my first time purchasing a dress from UO as they don’t normally fit me very well, but this well was just perfect! The waist was nicely form-fitting with about an extra 1/2″ wiggle room. The length was also perfect as it hit right above my knee. What’s even better is that it had little sleeves — I’ve noticed that most dresses I find in the summer are sleeveless and my office is wayyy too freezing for sleeveless dresses! This dress satisfied all the criteria I look for when looking for dresses. Hooray UO!! 🙂

Shoes: I was lucky enough to find some nude pumps at my local Aldo store a few months ago. I bought the first and last size 35! I had been on the lookout for some nude pumps ever since I saw how amazingly they lengthened your legs. And who doesn’t want to have longer legs?! The only downside of these shoes is that they’re a little wide, making them slip off my feet occasionally when walking. I added some inserts into each shoe, making it a little more snug.

Necklace: Of course, I had to complement my outfit with the appropriate necklace — a chirpy bird necklace!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Chirp! 🙂

A Burmesed Beauty

I wanted to do a quick Face of the Day (FOTD) post showing some of the makeup that I wore today.

The look was very subtle but complemented the outfit I was wearing earlier today perfectly.  I actually took this picture after the gym (and thus I’m in workout clothes), but the colors still worked out beautifully!

Here’s what I used:

(Products listed clockwise)

This is a super versatile look — as you can tell I wore it with a blue-themed outfit and even a coral colored workout outfit!  If you haven’t picked up the Burmese Beauty Quad from the latest MAC Fabulous Felines collection, you should definitely do so before the collection is gone! It’s one of my all-time favorite quads and works great with virtually every outfit!

Something New, Something Old, and Something Blue

The weather’s been getting colder lately and today’s outfit was a desire to find a good transition outfit from summer into fall. Living in Texas, the weather still hits above the 90s, but people have started busting out the cardigans and even the UGGs after a long summer of >100 degree weather.

Today’s outfit included something new, something old, and was an all-over blue colored theme.

Sequined Flower T by Gap (XS)
High-Waist Mini Bandage Skirt in Indigo by Express (00)
Giraffe necklace from Forever 21
Whitsey Peep-Toe Pumps in Cognac from Aldo (5)

closeup of the necklace

New:

Shirt: I had bought this shirt from Gap a couple of weeks ago when they have a 30% off Friends & Family sale. It’s a bit baggy on my but you can’t really tell once it’s tucked into the skirt. The Petite XS may have worked better, but they didn’t have it in the store when I was shopping that day.

Skirt: The skirt I actually just bought this weekend from Express during their Buy 1 Get 1 50% off sale stacked on top of another $30 off $75 coupon! It fits perfectly at the high-waist level and hits just above my knee. ❤ !!

Necklace: This necklace is also new from my shopping trip this weekend to F21. It was only $2.80 and the perfect playful accessory to top off the outfit. I also really like how the copper-colored necklace ties in with the cognac color of the shoes.

Old:

These Aldo pumps are probably at least 3 months at this point. These are some of my most favorite shoes as they are super comfortable and give me the extra 3″ of height that I need. I’m a huge fan of the hidden platform and the cognac color is a great transition color from summer into fall.

Blue:

I love the blue theme for today (with little bits of tan)! The white top keeps it light while the navy dress and tan shoes give suggestions of fall.

Hope you guys enjoyed my first OOTD (outfit of the day) post!

Welcome!

This is my little world where I invite you to indulge in my daily fashion and makeup experiments. I'm a little Asian girl who loves to escape from the confines of her ordinary world -- and what better way than to get all dolled up!

Fashion and makeup don't come easy to little asian girls though! Where do you find stylish jeans to fit a 5' 1/2" 98lb frame that's not a girl's size 12? And how do you pack on eyeshadows when you have small slanty eyes?

Stick around and I'll share with you my daily (misguided) adventures! :)
